As an Activist (No More Tears Foundation)
Somy became interested in issues pertaining to the rights of women in South Asia after leaving Bollywood. She works to make people aware of the difficulties faced by rape and domestic abuse victims. She has written about rape victims Mukhtaran Mai, Sonia Naz, and Shazia Khalid.
